Board of Directors: Cortney Heimerl

Cortney Heimerl has been a board member since November 2007.  She is a freelance writer specializing in contemporary American craft.  She has written for various publications including American Craft Magazine, Venus and Adorn.  Her first book, Handmade Nation:  The Rise of DIY, Art, Craft and Design, was published in 2008 by Princeton Architectural Press.

Cortney holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee where she earned degrees in both Printmaking and Art History.  She also holds a Master’s degree from New York University where she specialized in Communication Theory.

She resides in Milwaukee with her growing family.
