Microvolunteering at ArtWorks
We have compiled a "microvolunteering" checklist of seven easy ways to show your support for ArtWorks. We bet it will take you less than three minutes to do all of the following:
1. Like us on Facebook.
2. Make a quick donation online.
3. Add "Supporter of ArtWorks for Milwaukee” to your LinkedIn profile.
4. Follow us on Twitter and Instagram.
5. Include a line about the Friends of ArtWorks to your email signature.
6. Rate us on Facebook (you can rate an organization from 1-5 stars).
7. Autoshare our e-newsletter. Each ArtWorks e-newsletter will be automatically posted to your profile on Facebook, Twitter, and/or LinkedIn--contact firstname.lastname@example.org to get signed up.
As a Career Coach, you will be matched one-on-one with an ArtWorks intern to work on writing a resume, learning about personal branding, practicing interviewing skills, and exploring possible careers. You’ll join with other coaches and interns during 4 facilitated – but highly interactive – sessions in downtown Milwaukee. Some exercises will be done as a whole group, while others will involve just you and your intern working together.·Career Coaching is a commitment of four sessions that take place at the ManpowerGroup Headquarters from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. weekly for four weeks. The Career Coaching cycle typically runs three times a year--in spring, summer, and fall.
Program volunteers support ArtWorks’ staff and Lead Artist with organizational tasks while also interacting and serving as a role model for youth interns. Program volunteers participate in each session of our teens arts internships as another adult mentor for the cohort of 8-10 high school interns. Prior art experience is welcome, but not necessary.
The program volunteer’s involvement spans the preparation, execution, and evaluation of the 8-week program. Both formal and on-the-job trainings are offered to the program volunteer.
College students from UWM, Marquette, Mount Mary, Alverno, and other schools have participated with ArtWorks as program volunteers; however, program volunteers do not need to be college students.
Committee and "Skills-Based" Volunteering
Looking to use your professional expertise in a volunteer capacity?
Some of our volunteers contribute through committee work. Each committee meets monthly to implement strategic initiatives that help us to provide our arts-based internships for local high school students. Committee members attend monthly meetings & complete action items between meetings:
We have a variety of upcoming events, including program unveilings, community events, and fundraising activities. There are many "day-of" event tasks that we need volunteers to come help with including set-up, take-down, or tasks during the event itself. We would love to have your help!
9th annual Night by the River benefit
We are currently looking for a few more members to round out our Night by the River planning team. Planning team members coordinate all aspects of the 300-person event, including securing silent auction items, recruiting corporate and tasting sponsors, marketing, ticket sales, IT support, entertainment, and much more. Contact us to help plan our biggest fundraiser of the year.
Art Sales Team
Help display and sell artwork created by our teen interns to the public and spread the word about this great organization! The art sales team represents ArtWorks at events such as the Fine Furnishings Show, farmer's markets, young professionals events, and other venues.
ArtWorks keeps a list of "special projects" that are unique, short-term, require special skills, or don't fit into any of our other volunteer categories.
