Welcome to ArtWorks for Milwaukee!

At ArtWorks for Milwaukee, we put the arts to work to develop our future workforce!

We're a non-profit organization that serves Milwaukee high school students who face any of the following significant barriers to employability:
  • Underperformance in High School– These teens have low GPAs and/or may drop out, despite having the capacity to graduate. At ArtWorks, we teach them that earning a high school diploma is key to finding employment success.
  • Disabilities– At ArtWorks, we teach our Interns to overcome employment barriers inherent to misperceptions about their abilities.
  • Lack of community connections– These young people, generally through no fault of their own, lack access to employment networks needed for success. At ArtWorks, we provide our Interns mentoring opportunities with ArtWorks’ staff, Lead Artists, and volunteer Career Coaches that can open doors for them and increase their chances of employment success.

  • Our Programs:

  • We provide paid internships in arts-based programs that teach highly transferable 21st Century soft employability skills that are needed for future success in any industry.
  • Our programs promote teamwork, tolerance for diversity, and boost the employability of young people in our community.
  • Our programs provide opportunities for our Interns to earn a meaningful paycheck by working with professional artists in a wide variety of art mediums.
  • Our programs provide real-world work environments where Interns explore the arts, learn from respected local professional artists, and create art work worthy of display in Milwaukee's most prominent public settings.
