The interns who were part of the Wearable Words + Fibers = Healthy Relationships project worked to understand and express meanings of relationships through visual and written art. This mandala was inspired by the Lakota Tribe's teaching of the medicine wheel. The medicine wheel, whose four parts make up a whole circle, represents wholesomeness, connectivity and balance. This Lakota symbol teaches us that a healthy relationship cares equally for our mind, body, spirit and heart. The interns' collaborative medicine wheel mandala shows the beauty of balanced relationships, which value each part of ourselves.
Special thanks to program volunteer Laree Pourier for her help with this project.
