ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA.

OUT OF AN ABUNDANCE OF ______.

Dear Milwaukee,

We all know how to fill in the blank.

Since the end of 2019, a phrase popularized during the Ebola pandemic has resurfaced in the wake of COVID-19.  “Out of an abundance of caution, we are closing…canceling…recommending…ordering.” As ArtWorks for Milwaukee searches for positive ways to maintain the health of its interns, their employment, and their creativity, we, like so many organizations and businesses, are going digital for the time being.

Welcome to our new page: OUT OF AN ABUNDANCE!

We have so much to share with you.

It can’t wait.

Before ArtWorks for Milwaukee suspended the 2019-20 internships because of the virus, interns were working on a photography exhibit for the Milwaukee LGBT Community Center, programming for the creative care-giving organization TimeSlips, and creating digital art, graphic design, and ceramics through the ArtWorks for You program.

Not knowing when physical exhibitions and performances will actually be able to happen, the interns have joined forces in this enigmatic time to showcase the work they’ve already produced and invite the community to engage with their art in unique ways.

Out of an abundance of creativity, expression, and a desperate need for community connections, we invite you to share your photos, images, and stories and safely spread the love of art to everyone around you!

To your health,

ArtWorks for Milwaukee
