Audubon Technology & Communication High School- 10th Grade

Zay was scared on the first day of the internship, even though he was using it as a way to make friends, laugh, and be creative. During the second session, he showed who he really was, laughing a lot, while making jokes and new friends. Zay quickly showed the lead artists that, to him, this internship is more than a job. He sees his role as a place of honor and wants to use the opportunity to pursue learning how to work with others and allow himself to be open.

Jay is excited about this internship because it will have aspects of the environment and art, both of which she cares about deeply. She’s very passionate about the arts and hopes to strengthen her talent while working on Artworks projects.

Jay wants to become an animator or a character designer for a popular network such as Disney, nickelodeon, Adult Swim, or Cartoon Network.

Kayla is most excited about getting the opportunity to get out into the community, and in a way that expresses everyone’s creativity. She values good communication while working and is diligent when it comes to working through problems. Kayla is passionate about art, and conveying important messages through art, as well as environmental issues such as pollution.

Kayla believes this internship will give her inspiration for her future works of art. She also hopes the skills she learns will transfer over to her future job opportunities. She looks forward to making connections with the people around her that will positively impact her future.

Marco is excited to learn more about the environmental arts program and the opportunities it has to offer during the internship. Marco is very passionate about art and likes to incorporate their feelings and ideas into their art as a way to express themself. Marco also advocates for LGBTQ+ rights.

Through ArtWorks’ environmental arts program, she hopes to be able to build on her foundations of art and become a force for good in the world.

Shamauri is a proud new member of the 2023-2024 ArtWorks’ environmental arts internship. She currently participates in a multitude of clubs and extracurricular activities like Link Crew, Student Council, and the Schuler Scholar Program. She is very excited for this internship and the opportunity to work with different people, strengthen her art-making skills, and extend her education on environmental sustainability.

Sabrina is very excited about this internship because it allows her to express her passion for mental health topics such as depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and childhood trauma. Her drive in the program is to create art that validates, recognizes, provides support, and raises awareness about these issues, helping individuals in her community feel heard and supported. 

Since childhood, her dream career has been to work her way up to become an Art/Creative Director, while also considering using her free time to become an Art Therapist. She feels blessed to be a part of this program as it will expose her to new people and enable her to develop her graphic design, photography, and collaborative skills.
